LESSON & HACK PLANNING

In every activity, you should start with a Plan for the lesson, while realizing that it may have be changed as the lesson progresses.

The Plan can be a written plan, based on one of the plans in this website, or a variation with your changes written or remembered, or a special plan developed for that session. But, for every session, you must make a conscious effort to think about your Plan.

When starting a lesson with a Plan, think about any specific risks that you must take into account: the mix of riders, any new or nervous riders or any with special needs, number of spectators, the weather, nearby activity, pressure of time, any known or likely changes on the route of any hack, quick run through of how to cross any roads with that group of riders, charged phone etc.

If you have any doubt, phone for more information or extra help.

And within the lesson, there will often be riders either of unknown ability or at different stages. The lesson must meet the needs of all the riders, so you will have to adjust activity so that each rider enjoys a suitable experience.

If your lesson plan can be used again, send notes to Becky so that we can add to this library for the benefit of all.
