Livery etc

Court Equestrian offers a range of Livery Services to horse owners.

We have all types of horses and ponies, happy hackers, show ponies, show jumpers, BE event horses and point to pointers. Our yard is very proud of our successful young competitors and work hard to motivate, coach and produce young riders who hold their own what ever the competition.

FULL LIVERY: the owner has the benefit of all of the above and the School does not have the right to use the horse/pony in any school activities

WORKING LIVERY: the School has the right to use the horse/pony for up to 6 hours of lessons/hacks per week, some of which will be at weekends, and this is reflected in the lower charge for working livery.

As well as the stables at the main base of the Riding School, at Priors Court, we also have a self contained yard of 4 stables set in 8 acres, as well a large field with a block of 7 stables.

Although a package can be tailored to the specific needs of the horse/pony and owner, it is based on the following standard elements:

As part of the monthly fee, each horse/pony is provided with the following, as appropriate for, and reflecting the needs of, the animal itself:

  • keep & bedding
  • mucking out
  • feed
  • worming on regular basis
  • turn out is available
  • exercise on horse walker as required
  • treatment of minor ailments that do not need veterinary inspection
  • bringing in and holding for farrier
  • use of lockable tack room
  • use of school facilities when available
  • School staff provide overall general care of every animal
All Livery Owners have the right to join in, free of charge, a number of lessons and/or hacks each week on a pre-arranged basis, or you can ask us to exercise your horse for you.

The monthly fee, payable at the start of each calendar month, covers all of the above, and should preferably be paid by standing order.

The Owner is responsible for:

  • farriers' costs. It is a requirement that owners maintain animals feet in good condition. Farriers are at the School on Mondays, and on other days by appointment. Owners must pay Farriers' bills directly and promptly to the Farrier.
  • vet's bills.Owners may call in their own vets or use the excellent vets who service the School's own horses. Owners must pay Vets' bills directly and promptly to the Vet

Please note that School staff may arrange veterinary inspection and or treatment if, in their opinion, it is an emergency and if the owner cannot be easily contacted for prior permission.

  • other specialised services, such as dentistry etc
  • insurance - owners are encouraged to insure their animal for third party cover and possibly for medical and personal injury cover.
  • flu or other vaccinations
  • special supplements, additional feed and bedding.

Notice: any livery owner wishing to terminate the arrangement must give at least one full calendar month notice and must settle all outstanding bills before removing the animal.

Non-payment of bills. If any bills remain unpaid after 3 months, and after discussion with the owner, Court Equestrian may give 30 days notice of its intention to sell the animal at auction in order to clear monies due.any surplus will be refunded to the owner.

This scheme is based on a fixed payment per month, paid in advance, which allows the Rider to have a certain number of lessons and/or hacks, some of which may be taken at weekends.
