The Government has announced that they hope outdoor facilities & sports can re-start on Monday 29th March.

Riding in an Indoor School is also counted as an  "outdoor activity". We may have to modify times of lessons etc, and some pre-booked lessons may have to be changed.

BUT we hope activities will start to get back to normal!

Following the latest Government announcement, all riding lessons, hack & courses are suspended.

Livery owners and any riders with loan horses may come to exercise their horse BUT you MUST pre-book your slot on the Book Online system, which is being updated.

We are now in Tier 3. Government and industry advice is that Equestrian activities can continue, subject to maintaining sensible Covid precautions:

  • Maintain Social Distance

  • Wear masks when in confined space with others

  • Arrive just before and leave just after your lesson

  • Only one adult per rider to watch in a group lesson

  • Max 2 adults to watch in a private lesson

  • Use sanitiser - 4 stations around yard

  • Scan the NHS Track & Trace code

Updated 26th November

The Government has just announced that we will be in Tier 2 from 2nd December. This means that we can then offer group and private lessons & hacks.

However, anyone who lives in a Tier 3 area should check the rules as they may not be allowed to travel to us.

Previous update 13th May 2020

Following new guidance from the Government and advice from our Equestrian Industry Associations, we are now able to resume riding lessons but will need to abide by a number of new rules.

For the moment, we will be offering private 1-2-1 lessons only.

As a result we have amended our prices to try to make them as affordable as possible.  Our normal tariff will return as soon as we are able to restart group lessons.

Prices from 13th May. All lessons are private, one-to-one:

1/2 hour child lesson £20

1/2 hour adult lesson £25

45 minute lesson £30

1 hour hack £30

We will also need everyone to follow social distancing rules so that no one should be closer than 2 metres to anyone else.

We will also require everyone (riders and anyone accompanying them) to wear gloves at all times when on the yard.  We do have some latex gloves available but you may wish to bring your own riding gloves instead.

Hand sanitising stations are located at the car park entrance, the stables office, kitchen. and at WCs.

Always take particular care.

You are recommended to always wear a body protector.

Always wear Hi Viz when hacking.

Ensure girth is properly tightened and stirrups are correct length.

Always check with an Instructor if you have any concerns, doubts or questions.

Riders can be accompanied on the premises by just one other person from their household.

Only card payments (contactless up to £45) will be taken during this period at the office. Or you can pay in advance by bank transfer to:

Court Equestrian

Please arrive for your lesson no more than 15 minutes before the start time and please go straight to the office and pay for your lesson and then go to school where your lesson is booked.  If you are late, the lesson may have to be shortened to avoid delaying the next lesson.

Your horse will be brought to you and at the end of your lesson your instructor will take it from you.

We have had a management meeting today 23rd March to discuss what we should do at Court Equestrian to help the fight against the virus.

We have looked at the Government advice and the best advice that we can find in the Equestrian industry.

In the best interests of our staff, customers, friends, family and horses, we have decided the following:

  • all activity will be suspended with immediate effect. That covers all lessons & hacks whether group or private, all City & Guilds courses, all work experience, all short and vocational courses.

  • livery owners - Claire will talk to you individually about caring for your horses

  • staff - we will run a skeleton staff only in order to look after the welfare of our many ponies and horses. All other staff will be put on "furlough". This is the Government term for staff who are told not to come to work because of Covid 19, and who will be paid 80% of their wages by the Government.

  • horses and ponies - all will be looked after during this period and will be ready for riding when Covid 19 is behind us.

  • all deliveries of feed, hay, bedding etc will continue to be received.

We know that being with horses and being in the open air is so helpful, invigorating and de-stressing, so it is a great shame that we have had to take this step. However, we are sure that you will understand the reasons and, providing we all work together and do our part, you will be back in the saddle as soon as possible
